Dr Paul Eck (Founder of Mineral Nutritional Balancing)

Dr Paul Eck (1925-1996) was a brilliant scientist who developed a method of using hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) to develop supplements to support the body in maintaining homeostasis and optimising health.

Dr Eck originally trained as a naprapath (a type of natural health practitioner), and after some years went on to work for a supplement company educating doctors about nutrient supplements. He had long had a deep interest in health which led him to research widely into many aspects of science related to health, and he soon gained a reputation among his medical clients as being extremely knowledgeable, especially in the areas of nutrition and biochemistry.

Some doctors approached him about using HTMA so he started collecting data on HTMA results.  He drew on his vast scientific knowledge and soon realised that minerals work together in a complex system in the body and the entire system must be respected.

This realisation led him to synthesise a number of scientific theories from other areas of research (including such well known theories as Selye’s General Adaptation Syndrome and Watson’s Metabolic Typing) to formulate a working hypothesis of how HTMA can be used to successfully to understand biochemical patterns in the body. This was how mineral nutritional balancing was born.
